This coffee was produced by 124 women organized around the cooperative, Asociación de Productores Cafetaleros de la Cuenca del Rio Marañón (APROCCURMA).  Located in northern Peru’s Rodríguez de Mendoza province, within the Amazonas region the coffee is grown, processed, and dried on small acre farms using micro mills.  Shade trees, bananas, corn, and beans are intercropped alongside the coffee to add additional income and food to support the families.

The cooperative has been encouraging and establishing coffee production to women owned and managed farms by providing supporting programs and investments, such as financing, training, and technical assistance to improve coffee quality.  In turn, these women producers are earning a reputation for quality coffee on the international market.

This coffee is certified Organic by the Montana Department of Agriculture and Fair Trade Certified
