Coffee Story:
Montana Public Radio made its first transmission from a University of Montana student training facility in 1965. Now a National Public Radio affiliate, they still broadcast from UM facilities and are transmitted throughout the Flathead and Bitterroot Valleys, Helena, Great Falls, Butte and Dillon. In 1989, R.C. Beall was instrumental in the fundraising effort to bring a KUFM translator to Whitefish. The effort was successful and the translator is still in operation on top of Whitefish Mountain Resort, formerly Big Mountain. In 1995, Montana Coffee Traders created Montana Public Radio Blend. Montana Coffee Traders donates a percentage of proceeds to this listener-supported station to ensure the survival of quality public radio. Tune in everyday all day with a cup of coffee in hand.
