Coffee Story:

The farmer responsible for this quality cup of coffee is a woman by the name of Bedhatu Jibicho. Bedhatu was born and raised in Worka Ethiopia and began working in coffee in the 1960’s, after the government gave land to her husband. Bedhatu takes great pride in managing the farm operations for over 50 years, even before her husband passed away in 1991. Today, Bedhatu’s adult children have become involved in this work, continuing her tradition of coffee farming. Going forward, the family plans to use the premiums from coffee sales to expand production and begin an export company.

At over 80 years old, Bedhatu’s years of coffee farming showcase exemplary agronomic practices including ripe cherry selection at harvest, meticulous processing fulfilled at the Banko Gotiti Coop mill and attention to export detail. We had the privilege of getting familiar with her farming excellence 3 years ago and are delighted to have been able to secure a small lot of her coffee again.
